Thursday 10/11 Raid Report

Post by Benvolo »

So, nothing really new here, except another week of Kara!Last week started a little rough, but we picked it back together on Sunday and one shot every boss... I think Here is the group for this Thursday as far as I know.MT: ThandrennOT:  ???Priest: FionaPriest: StarsaverPally: JazzmynnRouge: DrpMage: BenvoloMage: AnotherHunter: NagashiDPS: ???If anyone that I listed can not make it, please post here, or send me an in game message via mail or tell.  Otherwise I am assuming that those that were there last week can attend. So as you can see, we are short an OT, unless Mahnalor will be joining us again for this week.  We have some options as far as OT's go.  Nagashi could bring his warrior if he is willing, a druid offtank would not be the worst either. If you have a character you would like to bring to Kara to offtank, please post or again, contact me in game.As far as the open DPS spot that should not be hard to fill.So the plan for Thursday is: Attunmen, Moroes, Opera, possibly Maiden??If we could get the first three down, I think that would be a good start, since it is highly likely we will have a new face in the OT spotSee you all Thursday!!Andy

(Wouldnt mind loggin earlier, but will stay till then).  Sorry I cant stay longer.  I have been too tired to get up for class the day after Grp 2 raid cuz we are always on so late.

I will need to take a few weeks off from kara. My schedule is going to get a little squishy now that I'm headed back to that "place of higher learning"... Not quite sure what it means yet for my play times. I hope you can find some heals to replace me....   Tim

it seems that more and more of group 2s "core" is starting to take breaks, maybe we should all take a week or two off and decide what to do after that.  Just a thought lemme know what the rest of you guys think....   Paul

Thanks for the heads up on availability.  As far as taking a week off, I will see if I can talk to everyone in game before the raid (hopefully tonight) and see if we can work something out.  I'll also see if anyone from grp 1 would be available to run with an alt.  Either way I will post tonight before I go to bed, hopefully with some info about the Thursday raid.  But as of now, for those that can attend, plan on raiding.  If it doesn't work out, then so be it.  We can run some 5-man stuff instead perhaps Andy

Updated Raid Roster for Thursday 10/11Main Tank: ThandrennOff Tank: Aggrocity (Nagashi's Warrior)Priest: StarsaverPriest: Zuklen?Pally: JazzmynnRogue: DrpRogue: DravenMage: BenvoloMage: AnotherMage: MimoriSo I talked Nagashi into bringing his warrior to OT, since that was a big part of the group we were missing.  This opened up a DPS spot that Mimori will be filling. So since Jazz needs to be off my 11pm server, and we are rolling with some people that are newer to our group here is my proposed planAttumenMoroesOpera??Basically we will just see what we get done.As far as Sunday, the outlook is not so great.  We are going to be without our Pally, and I am not sure if Zuklen can be there.  We will decide if we will continue Sunday after the raid on Thursday.Invites will go out at 7:30pm.  We WILL pull at 8pm.  We need to get started on time and keep decent pace since we are tight for time. Please bring self buffs you can (food, elixers, flask, whatever) since the grp buffs we will have will be a little less than optimal.  Also, if it turns out Zuklen can not make it tomorrow, we will see what we can do.  If it comes down to having to Pug a healer, we will play that by ear.Andy(wall of text crits for 9000)

hey guys I wanted to mention a long time gaming buddy of mine has found himself guildless. he has a feral druid and has OT'd kara a lot and has mostly epic gear. In any case I'm trying to get him a guild invite so he could be an option for OT'ing he also has some nice healing gear too he can slip on once in awhile to help out. Also Alsharpton aka Tyronebiggins has a nice moonkin that i've run with many times that puts out some monster dps and good heals too so if he's around that may be an option as well.

oh i failed to mention Alsharpton also has a decently geared pally too that coud OT as well "if" he is aorund but he works late and doesnt usually come on until we are all logging off but if he is around Im sure he'd love an opportunity to participate? I'd hate to see grp 2 take a head dive with kara progression, so early into it.

Thursday 10/11 Raid Report

Great job tonight guys!  We got Attumen, Moroes, and Maiden down.  I didn't write down the loots, but I am pretty sure Thandrenn did.  It was pretty much a healer drop night which was pretty cool, and it did end with the mace dropping off Maiden.    We had our fair share of problems / rough spots, and I can honestly say that 90% of them were my fault.  Between not making sure everyone is on vent before I say something important, making a not so great choice on the next focus target when people are dropping, and not being clear with instructions for how the adds are being dealt with during Moroes.  But even with all of that, we came through and downed all the bosses we set out for.  In addition to the usual crowd....Nagashi brought his warrior in as OT for us tonight, and I think he did a very nice job.  The only thing that could have gone better, was the adds on Moroes, but that was my fault, not yours.Zuklen filled out a vacant healing spot for us also.  Thanks a ton!Mimori also came with the fill the other open dps spot.  3 mages ftw! Now, down to the good stuff.....As far as the changes that have come upon group 2, I have sort of filled the raid leader position since Mahnalor stepped down.  This is in part because on Thursday I was the one that started invites for the group, so my name said raid leader in front of it.  I didn't really go into Thursday thinking of myself as Raid Leader.  I was hoping that the leadership roles in Group 2 could be more evenly spread around our "core" group.  I think that a lot of us have stepped up in the absence of Mahnalor, and (at least to me) I feel like it is more of a group effort now.  When Mahnalor was leading the raid, he knew a TON about Kara.  And a TON about all the things that go along with it.  So for me it was very easy to just zone out, and spam one button over and over at whatever he put a skull on.  In doing so, I am sure that this resulted in an even higher weight on his shoulders.  I am not trying to say that group 2 is better without Mahnalor, that couldn't be farther from the truth.  I am trying to say that I think it is best when we don't rely on just one or even two people to guide us through the raid, we all need to be focused on the task at hand.  That being said, I do not mind being the "Raid leader".  But, if anyone feels that they are better qualified for the job, please speak up.  I don't want anyone to feel like that I just took over the job, and no one else can have it.  So basically I don't know if anyone cares about what I just said.  I just felt like I needed to say it.  So there.  I did,(wall of text crits for 9000... again)Andy

I (obviously) wasn't there - but in regards to being Raid Leader, you would have my vote.To me, a raid leader is not just someone who "does the invites":- be at 100% of the raids- analyze every success/failure so that next time things are smoother - be up to speed on all the encounters- be respectful of the fellow raiders, yet call people out who need itA capable raid leader is the key to success - if you have 9 other people following your lead, every failure and every success is a learning opportunity.  Other vocal raiders should whisper to you when they have recommendations on pulls/etc. so as not to confuse the situation.  But each attempt should be an attempt at tweaking things a little better.

You have my vote as well.  While I have not had the chance to run with you since you stepped up I do get to sit next to someone who does, and I must say you are doing an excellent job.  There is always room for improvement in all groups, things take time.
