Nightbane
Nightbane
Hey everyone, good attempts on nightbane last night. We got him this week for sure. After reading some more strategy, I found this little nugget for melee dps:Melee DPS will stand in typical dragon-meleeing position, at the hind legs on either side. Staying between the legs is important because both the tail and the head do cleaves/swipes.

yah -- that fight seems very methodical, just a long fight where he punishes the tank. With a 3rd healer, possibly an offtank to help control the skeleton adds - it should be a weekly cakewalk. For our first attempts, I think we did an amazing job - only 2 healers!! No offtank!!--------Additionally, I thought it was great that we had such a good learning experience on the Prince. I agree that there is an element of luck to that fight -- you can get very lucky, you can get very unlucky. What we need to do is be able to handle all that grey zone in between those two. Our first couple kills, we kind of ended up with a decent drop pattern (not perfect) -- so I think we really accomplished a lot last night. Here's a list of things I learned -- hopefully people have more to add:Prince:* Elixir's of Detect Demon -- great for moving him if I need to, but since they appear as dots after the infernals land -- it's not such a proactive thing. * Moving Prince -- this should be done only at the request of the "caller", moving him without everyone prepared = wipe* Moving Prince #2 -- move towards healers, away = death* Shadow Nova -- with 2 healers, it worked well to have the rogues step out for EVERY shadow nova. That way they weren't taking additional healing.* Ironshield Potion -- I love you. Someone with potion mastery plz plz farm this.
Nightbane: * Chaos of skeletons -- we seemed to get them down pretty fast, but it certainly wouldu be good to get a FF mark and DPS in order. We have 45(?) seconds, and *plenty* of dps, so done methodically we should have plenty of time.* Picking up Nightbane -- seemed easier than I imagined and read. But I think that's going to get tougher actually as we learn the fight more. His first couple smacks when he lands were HUGE, so when we're actually better prepared there might be that slight chance for healer aggro on set down. I'll make sure to be on it though.
* Fear stance dancing -- I have my macro set, and I had time to notice as the ground shook that I didnt have Fear Ward -- but I should hover over that and maybe click no matter what. He's not hitting during that cast time -- it amplifies damage output -- and it's added insurance against a FW mistake.Add any notes you guys had on the fight please!

Couple other quick notes:Nightbane: Skeletons can be stunned, so we can minimize their dps using this. I think nightbane can bleed too.Prince: He can bleed, so rogues can rupture him, thus keeping damage going while running out. Open with garrote too.

One thing I also notcied for rogues is you can Cloak of Shadows out of the Tail swipe off of nightbane. That also helps stop teh dmg coming for the 13 seconds it keeps coming for. But all in all I think we did great on our attempts. I think we will get him down next time we get there.

One more note I took last night - this guys hitbox is MASSIVE, like bigger than netherspite big. I was able to completely avoid tailswipes and backstab him while standing halfway between him and the healers. This helps when a charred earth comes up I can move forward a bit without having to switch sides.
