Raid Team "Thursday" - Updated 8/17

Post by Mahnalor »

Hi Folks,As time has gone by since we first decided to start a second raid group, we have morphed a little from our original lineup.  I would like to keep track of those folks who are committed to raiding with this group on each day.  I will reserve spots for those who give their committment that they will be there, on-time each week.  If they cannot, then they will post on the status thread for that particular week.  We do not, as of yet, have a full, dedicated lineup, but in time that will come.  We have a number of guildees that will come in and out as the weeks pass to fill in open spots.  Please let me know if there is anything incorrect here or if I missed anyone.  I believe there is a lot of room to add folks to the additional guildees/alts available, but I would like to hear from folks before putting them down THURSRAID INVITES:  7:30 >> 7:45    FIRST PULL:   8 PM SERVERSUNRAID INVITES:  7:30 >> 7:45    FIRST PULL:   8:00 PM SERVER*Changed Sunday time back to original time until more folks are aware of attempted earlier startThursday Committments:Healer    -    FionaaHealer    -    XandorHealer/DPS    -     BlaveMT    -    MahnalorOT/DPS    -    ThandrennDPS    -    AnotherDPS    -    KurumiDPS    -    DrpDPS    -    BenvoloDPS    -    Sunday Committments:Healer    -    XandorHealer    -    Healer/DPS    -     BlaveMT    -    MahnalorOT /DPS    -    ThandrennDPS    -    AnotherDPS    -    KurumiDPS    -    DrpDPS    -    BenvoloDPS    -    Additional Guildees/Alts Available:Healer    -    Maggotmilk (alt of Another)OT/DPS    -    GathgorDPS - Syrinxiarra (alt of Gathgor)Required Add-ons: (Available on the main page of our website)KLH ThreatmeterDeadly Boss Mods (La Vendetta)Consumables:Please be sure to equip yourself with the appropriate consumables.  Though there is quite the variety of consumable to bring on a raid night, the basics should include:Healing PotsMana PotsBandagesFood BuffsRaiding Prep: Please be sure to take a look at your current equipment to see if there is quest loot out there that can easily be obtained to improve what you are currently wearing.  There is an easy way of doing this in the World of Warcraft Armory.  Just click on the upgrade button next to your gear and it will bring up a list of upgrades - both quest and drop. Now is the time to really focus on your main (if you have alts) to make them the best toon they can be :).  Not that we all havent, but thought I would just throw that out there :)  General Raiding:  On the night of the raid, please be sure that you have repaired all of your armor and have some bag space for drops. More to come...

You can add Jazzmynn as an "If all else fails" healer.  Not geared the best ATM, but in the process of grinding better gear.  Whichever one of us (Kaittlynn/Mahonri) is on will play her.

Hey guys!   We had a nice raid group Sunday and I was so excited to bring Jazzmynn, as she hasn't really healed much before lately since before BC.  I know that I can be a little rusty at the healing, as it may take a alittle time to get used to healing instead of DPSing with Kaittlynn.  While healing, I was wondering if anyone else in Group 2 has a mentor in Group 1.  I honestly believe that it would be helpful to us if everyone had someone in Group one that has completed Kara to talk to about strategy.  Namely a mentor from the same class or close (I was able to talk to Zuklen, even though he wasn't a Pally because we were both  a 'Healing Class').  If everyone in Group 2, reached out to someone in the same position in Group 1 to ask about things, then it could be more successfull.  Also, if people simply read the Class Forums, that could help out tremendously as well.  Main things to be aware of are:  Which potions you should have with you for your class, Which Food you should have with you ( Not just the Mage stuff :P) and Which Gear you should come equipped with.  I know the Gear is not the easiest to get, but that is like mages getting their Shadoweave sets (Grats on gettin ur full set BTW :D).  If you can figure out what gear you need, we can get groups put together for gear runs before Kara night, and will be set!   I know this is a lot-- you guys will find that I do know how to write novels with my thoughts :P.  This is just my opinion, but I really want us all to succeed.  Now that we have Marose down (2 weeks in a row right?), it will be easier to get him down in the future :D.  Bit by bit we can take it.  Also, if this is a first time for people in Kara, you should try to read up on Boss Fights before we get to them so you can be more prepared when they come.  You  can also watch the boss fights on You tube.  We will be fighting bosses past the Opera very soon!!!  One final note, I will be starting to have Thursdays off as well, so I can probably come Every Thursday if needed, however Sundays I work every other week.   John ( Mahonri/Phrikk)  is going to try to play my pally the weeks that I work so that we can get Grp 2 geared up!  Here we come GRuul!!!! Kaittlynn/Jazzmynn

I think the idea of consulting your counterpart in Grp. 1 is an excellent idea. This is the first "raid" experience for some people.  You have to react differently than you would in a normal 5-man. I can't even fathom what it must be like changing from healing 5 to healing 10 ... so people need to be aware that a healer just might not be there for them, and do what they can to not take the damage, or back out and bandage -- but definately adjust.  You need to be paying attention to 50 necessary things at once. I read an article ages ago about "what do you do when you're 60 in WoW?" -- and it said something brilliant.  At 60 (70) -- you dont get any better, you're not levellng and getting skills/hp/etc, you need to learn to be better.  That's playing your role to the fullest.  Go balls out DPS as a mage-- click on Invisibility -- go balls out DPS again.  Have people ooh and aah at the damage meters after that.   Every fight, success or fail should be a learning experience for everyone - raiding is the "big game" - and it needs to be played as such.
