New Raider Mistakes
New Raider Mistakes
Taken from www.tankspot.com -- everyone has done a few of these: -Not bringing enough reagents -thinking a PvP spec will get them by -forgetting to repair fully -surprise at flask requirements -unawareness/unpreparedness of the full range of consumables that are able to be used at once for progression attempts -not being able to get required mods to work -not getting the required mods in advance -not knowing important information due to not checking the forums -being late -being on time, but half-way across the world -not having potentially needed alts parked outside the instance, repaired, stocked in reagents and consumables, or speced appropriately -running to far forward to see what's next and being unaware of a particular mob's wide aggro range -having trouble mastering mobility fights (big one) -inexperience at mana-conservation -using long cooldowns when unnecessary, making them unavailable for the upcoming boss fight. (rebirthing people on a trash pull) -forgetting to use cooldowns or being too timid with them (big thing with new paladin healers and LoH) -lack of aggro control -running away from the tanks when they get aggro -fearing -breaking cc accidentally -DPSing the wrong target due to unfamiliarity with using a main assist -Not interrupting or counterspelling casters, dropping grounding totems, stunning stunnable trash, or making use of other utility available to their class, but merely DPSing away while some priest eats fireballs. -not gearing for enough stamina as a clothie -not gearing for enough +hit as DPS -gearing for too much crit as anything -when on CC duties, re-CCing reactively to it popping, rather than preemptively. -Losing your CC target in a chaotic multi-pull due to unfamiliarity with a /focus macro -DPSing too early -taking cleaves due to not taking care to position themselves BEHIND all targets -chaining said cleaves to other people -forgetting to switch off of Crusader Aura -forgetting to take off Riding Crop -not healing from max range -using Curse of Agony -Soulstoning self -casting Salvation on tanks -accidentally BoPing tanks -accidentally Divine Interventioning tanks -not having trained all your skills A few more to add: -Showing up expecting to get loot as a reward for being there -Neglecting to improve equipment slots because item X drops off boss Y -Spending DKP on side-grades, down-grades just to spend and get something -Expecting a summons for every raid regardless of time -Apologizing in vent, mid battle, for mistakes (every shatter on Gruul: "OMG, sorry!") ((While I am trying to say : Spread back out, battle rez X, GTFO of cave in, dummy, heal teh tanks!" I'm usually talking over "Wow, I got thrown like in the middle of 6 people and I hit my shield and desperate prayer and OMG, I just died, sorry if I killed anyone, I'll pay your repair bill....c'mon guys, you can do it, keep going....can I get a battle rez, I am >ping, ping, ping<....lol, "stay close to the angel!")) -Not following directions. When I say, take 10, everyone go repair, invariably after the next pull "I'm broken, can we go repair" ............/wrist -Not responding at all when asked for confirmations, or when given directions. -Singing in vent -Using a microphone that makes you sound like you're inside a helicopter - beinga know-it-all -- and not knowing-it-all - hitting 'yes' on a ready check before you are really ready - hitting 'no' on a ready check because you think it's funny -buffing after a boss has been aggro'd. - running AWAY from a tank when he loses aggro - People pulling aggro by buffing or casting heals or shields as the boss is initially running towards the tank... - People who don't understand line-of-sight mechanics - Rogues who stun trash and sap the tank's rage generation when there's absolutely no need for it (yeah I know it gives a combo point. Use SS instead.) - Rogues who stun trash when the tank is trying to move the mob to a different location - Melee dps hitting the boss at his front, giving the boss 40% attack speed increase every parry And OMG this one kills me: - go through a long, drawn out explanation and one person says "What do I do here? Sorry, I was on the phone" ... anyone have stuff to add/admit?
