Guild Update - October, 2009

Post by Jon »

Hello FA'rs. We had an occifer vent meeting last night and I wanted to let everybody know what we're thinking:

Idravenl is becoming the new GM. Myrdinn is leaving the Sub GM spot as I haven't been able to play much and I really never planned to do anything with it except ignore drama, mission accomplished. My brief reign of changing the guild bank tab icons and drunkenly changing the guild rank names during brewfest has come to a happy ending. I would characterize Idravenl's alignment as Lawful Good, but please keep in mind he is a dirty rogue.
All Guild 25-mans are not planned on taking place in the near future. Instead of banging our heads against that wall again, we are going to concentrate on 10-man raiding. Feel free to go PUG any 25-man content and keep an eye out for future FA hosted PUG 25-mans down the road, but not right now.
If you are interested in raiding 10-mans, make sure to add your toon on the raiding census thread.
Special note will be made to invite tanks and healers. So if you are interested in filling one of those two roles, please make sure to include a tank or healing spec in your toon info.
We will have 2 categories of 10 mans:

Closed: Raid leaders will invite their selected lists with the goals of taking down hard modes and clearing current end game 10-man content.
Open: invites will be sent to everyone who lists their toons on the raiding census thread and will be focused on gearing up and seeing new content. Keep in mind that even though this is open, to actually see new content you have to be a fairly good player, or be interested in becoming a good player. If you want to get into any of the closed lists for hard modes, these are the raids to attend in order to show your stuff. The invites for open 10-mans will often be organized in the guild forums vs. the in game calendar. This will help keep the 10-mans a little better organized and facilitate the proper class make up.

We thankfully have a lot of qualified raid leaders in the guild so we should start seeing quite a few 10-man runs popping around during the week for different content. For anybody who is not getting invited, step 1, fill out the raiding census thread. Step 2, be talkative in gchat and find out what is happening or post in the forums, feel free to use this thread.

The decision to not attempt to do guild 25 mans for the time being has to do with lack of numbers and also the fact that we can all have more fun doing 10-man raids instead of forcing the issue with 25-mans. It may make sense to start back on 25s when 3.3 comes out though. When that time approaches we're going to take a look at the the raiding census thread in order to see where we stand.

Lastly, if anybody has current concerns about the direction of the guild, or lack there of please feel free to post on this thread and be vocal about what you would like to see happen.

Guild Update - October, 2009

Post by draven »

greetings my fellow disciples of ravenholdt... er guildmates :)
i just wanted to add a few things to what jon said. first off, i don't expect much to change with regards to the role of guild master of forged alliance. traditionally the guild master's primary job has been to ensure that the members of forged alliance are enjoying their time playing wow, seeing the content they wish to explore, and to deal with any issues or drama that arise. if you have any issues with anything, please feel free to bring them to the attention of myself or the other officers. we try our best to accommodate everyone as best as possible, and feedback from everyone helps us to do so.

second, for those not aware there are probably a few things i should mention, call them warnings of sorts, or more accurately statements of fact. i'm a pretty sarcastic person. some people don't appreciate such things, especially since sarcasm is generally difficult to convey in text. i apologize in advance for anyone whom this offends. also, i treat this game as just that, a game. granted, it is an extremely addicting game that we all spend a lot of time playing, but still just a game. i'm of the opinion that it should be played for fun and the enjoyment of your time. however, everyone has a different opinion as to what is fun and enjoyable, so i will try to keep that in mind. for the record, i prefer to focus on content and progression, not gear, and not meters of whatever it is that can be measured, and that is generally where my decisions about things will be derived from. finally, i have pretty low tolerance for stoopid sh...stuff. i encourage everyone who hasn't, to read through the 'about us' section of the site to get an idea of what is expected of the members of forged alliance, as i will reference that if i think someone is out of line. the short version is that you should respect your guildmates and fellow players of the game and make use of that thing called common sense. finally finally, if you disagree with me on something, feel free to say so or talk to one of the other officers. there are very few situations that can't be worked out, and when it comes to resolutions, no single person has the final say on anything.

more to come soon, so keep an eye out for info about 10s and the organization thereof.
if there are any questions or anything, please feel free to ask and / or post.

woot, go Jeff.

Also, stuff has and will continue to happen on a regular basis, just not 25 mans. That has nothing to do with who's GM.

Jon, fix your computer, and make sure you're logging on in the middle of the night when the baby wakes up. :D
