PUGs in Kara ...

Post by Blave »

Is there some way we can avoid this?

Here are some of the problems I have noticed with Group 2:
- People not showing up OR showing up late
- Not enough healers

Is there some way we can encourage people to:
- Show up AND show up on time
- Help with Alts (If they are already in another kara group)
- Help lower level guildies get attuned AND geared

I am open to, carrot not stick, ideas :)

We had the same problem of people showing up late in group 1.  We got over it by having 13 or 14 people wanting to go and taking whoever was ready at the start time.  People need to want to go, and that comes from successfully downing bosses.  I wish I had a healer to join up and help out, but I think we need to focus on getting as many people geared and keyed as possible.  I am willing to help out here this weekend.

So, is this just a numbers problem? I thought, maybe, it was a motivation problem ... group 2 has mixed success dropping bosses :(

But if this is just a numbers problem then maybe we need to take a different approach. I like the idea of scheduling 13-14 players for a 10 man instance just as long as we rotate the people who are left behind ... so everyone gets a chance to go. Maybe even rotate players between groups.

Is there an "official" list of people who are signed up for the different groups? Also, I think there might be a better way to track this other than the forums. (I am reviewing other, team, software that might help)

The first group was originally to be assembled of new people, alts and "anyone available early" to start the instance on Tuesday - get some experience and some early gear.  We were faced with the similar situation most startups were, major failures in MT/OTing combined with inexperienced raid healing.  Since the first 2 bosses rely on decent gear/performance from tanks, some of the most miserable times I've had in Karazhan were the two first weeks we tried to do this.  So I started bringing Chuunks to MT -- Amulec worked HARD on gearing up, and a couple others switched to their mains, we started progressing.  Then we were faced with the situation that I think you went through with Sanctuary, it's not really fair to tell someone who was in day#1 to sit out day#2.  We did struggle with start times as Miramel said, and it is exactly that -- when we started progressing well and invited the 10 online that made up a viable group, people who were showing up later began to make that added effort to be on and available. When you have 10 people you can rely on showing up every week on time -- it makes for a good cohesive, progressive group.  I'm fine with people swapping teams, but I think it should be negotiated on a person-to-person basis, because managing that would be somewhat of a nightmare and we might be back to waiting for a bunch of "maybes" to show.  Maybe not so much anymore since our numbers have been bolstered somewhat ... I think "Group Calendar" will hopefully foster this swappage, as we will see a list of the N number of people who will be online/available for a raid.  DPS can negotiate with DPS, tanks with tanks, healers with healers.
