Thursday 9/13 Raid Report
Greetings! On to another week of Kara! Let's keep up the good work folks!I will not be posting individuals to each day unless I hear from specific individuals either in-game or in the forums. We are getting to the point where we are progressing to the more difficult bosses. Group makeup needs to be considered a bit more as different encounters will require different makeups. Also, depending on the makeup, we might forgo some of the optional bosses in lieu of proceeding to the tougher ones. Let's see what our group makeup is first. This is a compilation of who is available, so don't fret if you see more than 10 names...In the meantime we'll plan on the following:Thursday - Attumen, Moroes, Opera, MaidenSunday - Curator, Chess, Shade of Aran, IlhoofThursdayMahnalor - WarriorBenvolo - MageJazzmynn - PaladinMahonri - RogueFionaa - PriestDrp - RogueThandrenn - WarriorAnother - MageIdravenl - RogueSundayMahnalor - WarriorBenvolo - MageJazzmynn - PaladinDrp - RogueThandrenn - WarriorAnother - MagePlease correct me if I have made a mistake above....or if anyone else is available should a spot be available due to group makeup, etc.-Mahnalor

One quick note on shade - the elementals can be stunned/interrupted/etc. Kick works particularly well since I think they only cast one school of magic, so they are basically silenced for 6 seconds while locked out. Stunning can be a life saver if flame wreath is about to go up, you can at least try to keep one in place and dps it down without moving. Oh, and 2 warlocks make this EZ-mode with 2 banishes.Miramel will be available on sunday if needed (again on a no-loot basis just to help out), but I have to be done by 9:30 server.

It's what I do best... But at least i'm consistent so you know what to expect... heheMahnalor wroteThanks for the confusion John lol.

I rescind my previous post about being available. Fargol has asked me to step in for him tonight as he is not sure if he will be there.

I'd like to add that a MM hunter has two methods of spell interrupt; Silencing shot and Scatter shot. Also Snaketrap can work as a spell interrupt too, in "most" cases. Just a thought.

Thursday 9/13 Raid Report
Hi as we discussed last night I did Kara with group 1 so for this week I'm saved with them. Sorry I cannot be available now. As I am randomly asked to participate I just go with whoever asks, if I can. I don't have any preference of either group your all very cool ppl and I really have fun running with you all. Also if you guys would like to assign me to a group that would be cool too. In any case I am a total WoW addict for now (damn OCD), I am on almost every night and am very happy to help where I can when I canMahnalor wroteThanks for the input Nagashi Does this mean that you will be avialable to help us out this week on Thurs/Sun? -Mahnalor

Absolutely fantastic effort last night folks! We one-shotted Attumen, Moroes and Maiden! Though we were a little unlucky with Romulo and Julianne, we managed to get them dowm on the third try. Many thanks to Starsaver for helping us out with the healing when we were short one. Simply put... awesome job healing! Idravenl and Kurumi.... you two held your own without much experience in Kara... and you two got some loot to boot! Loot will be posted tonight as I left the piece of paper I wrote down the information on. Brief recap of each fight: (I will have some takeaways for the evening near the bottom of the thread)Attumen - Dead before we new it. Though the fight felt like it took longer than usual, we managed just fine.Loot:Stalkers War Bands - JazzmynnGauntlets of Renewed Hope - JazzmynnMoroes - The biggest key for us was the shackle. 2 mobs were kept completely out of the battle until Moroes was down. Fionaa and Starsaver - excellent job on keeping those shackles up!Loot:Emerald Ripper - IdravenlNethershard Girdle - KurumiOpera (Romulo and Julianne) - Oh how I prayed we didnt get the Wizard of Oz That fight would have been tough with a lock to keep Roar at bay. Instead we got the two lovers. We needed three tries to defeat this encounter and get our interrupts in a rythm as we were letting heals get through from Julianne which is a big no no. I had a frustrating moment that everyone heard me yell "STUPID" over vent... I apologize to the virgin ears that heard this... didnt mean to have the push-to-talk key pressed . What happened you ask? I completely hosed up my UI somehow, dragged an important attack ability off of my bar and stood there not attacking anything and scratching my head.... again only 31 intellect here.... Needless to say, by the time I recovered, we were already on the downhill to a wipe. Sorry on that one .... no soup for me!Loot:Despair - ThandrennEarthsoul Leggings - ShardMaiden - Textbook folks. It's great to see everyone know their role and execute as planned right before the fight. Loot:Boots of Foretelling - FionaaGloves of Quickening - JazzmynAlthough we did amazingly well this evening finishing after only about three hours.. there are still some suggestions I would like to make. This is constructive feedback that I hope we can improve upon:Consumables. Though we are all willing and happy to help each other out with potions/elixirs/food/etc. we must make sure we bring enough for the raid night to cover our characters.Interrupts... umm yeah.. no idea how Julianne got off a heal during Phase one with 5... count them 5... melee characters with the ability to interrupt.... boggles the mind We got passed this though and they were both taken down eventually.DPS - we really need to watch our DPS. A few times Mahonri and or Drp pulled aggro before I had the chance to get in a few sunders. Other times they pulled it just cause their dps rocks... In any case, we all need to watch our dps and pulling aggro from the tanks. I need to up the ante and make sure to make it darn near impossible for any of the other folks to steal aggro.Tanking and dps - Thandrenn, let's chat about some additional ways you can generate more rage and how your play style should be adjusted now that you are Fury specced. You should undoubtedly be out-dpsing me and should not have any rage issues like you indicated last night. One thing I can suggest is to stop wasting rage on Sunder Armors on mobs when I have aggro. Instead, use the rage for other abilities that do more damage. (I will dig a bit deeper into the combat to see if there are any other nuggets of information I can pull out) Unbridled wrath can do wonders but it is based on damage done to the mob...though sunder armor produces additinoal threat, it doesn't produce much damage. Your key to rage generation is going to come more in terms of dealing damage instead of receiving it. OT'ing is another story altogether where you have to switch back to your original mindset. Once you get the hang of things, our raid group will be that much more effective having the additional dps. I admire your willingness to switch your talent build to help us out with more dps. It is not easy switching tactics depending on the mob/pull/etc. Thanks!I welcome feedback from others as well from other classes. I only play a warrior, so I can only speak in detail about things that I see in Thandrenn and myself in terms of abilities, etc. (Which is why the bullet point above is longer than the rest )Again... great job last night folks!-MahnalorStats are here

RE: Romulo / Julianne tips -- steal those buffs!!I confess to only reading the logs at first to see how / when Mahonri pulled aggro for a good healthy ribbing , but I did notice one thing that I think would help this fight significantly. Both Romulo and Julianne have buffs that are extremely beneficial to remove. Deadly Boss Mods will warn when they're cast, but you need a detect magic on them in order to steal / purge / ?:Julianne casts : Devotion : steal it and you get 50% casting speed increase (WOOT!) (and it amplifies her holy damage)Romulo casts : Daring : purge it or both his speed / damage are increased 50%I noticed his hits coming in at about 1k on Mahnalor after casting Daring, 500 before -- so I'm inclined to think it might be even more significant of a buff than listed in Wowwiki. This combined with the poison debuff he applies can cause for some hectic tanking moments.... looking more...One thing I noticed when Romulo did the dirty deed with Mahonri is that he used his flash earlier. Feint Rank 6 decreases threat by 1000 -- that's something to do before you gain aggro, as it will have very little effect once you have it. Here's my threat lesson of the day: In order to gain aggro for melee, you must exceed the current targets threat by 10% (ranged can go up to 20%). It's why it's easy to pull aggro early and they're a little more sticky later. If you pull aggro as a rogue, I think you have only two options (three if you want to count scream like a little girl) -- flash or evasion, but whatever you do - stop attacking! In fact, EVERYONE should lay off whenever the tank loses aggro. Everyone. As it stands, Mahnalor was able to use his 3 most threat heavy skills immediately when aggro was pulled (Shield Slam/Revenge/Crit Heroic Strike/Devastate > 200 - NICE job!)-- but if he didn't have the rage for it -- and if people hadn't stopped DPSing - it would have been likely he would have run to the raid and eaten some faces. It's probably a good idea for someone with raid status to get a focus target in KTM on Romulo, since Julianne does some random targetting -- and Romulo is the scary one if he's after you. Plus keep in mind that threat is reset after he dies the first time -- at that point, KTM goes out the window. Second half of this fight you need to police yourself, probably the better time to use flash actually is midway through phase 3 on Romulo.
