Blacksmithing soon to be 525, I’m going off of one of the 1-525 guides, gathering all the materials myself. I’ve collected everything but the elementium; I’m working through it now in Twilight Highlands.

Which of the following best describes your raiding goals? The rest of your application will be judged based on the answer to this question.
1. Raid whenever you have time in whatever group is most convenient
2. Raid consistently in a normal mode group and maybe some heroics
3. Dedicated to progressing through heroics at whatever rate the group is capable of
4. Hardcore heroic progression
5. None of the above, please explain:
I’m very interested in heroic dungeoning and raiding, but I’m a student currently, and my course work will come first. This may mean there may be times where I will have to opt out on a night, or there may be a week where I won’t even sign on. I hope that doesn’t hinder my ability to be a member of this guild.


What is your raid experience?
I don’t have any raid experience, just dungeon experience. I’ve enjoyed tanking, but I feel that I have never really learned the proper technique, so sometimes I tend to get frustrated and go back to DPS.


Why did you leave your previous (current) guild?
Never was in one. I quested or random dungeoned my way to 85.


Does anyone in our guild know you?
nope.

How did you find out about our guild?
The searching for guild function in the game client.

How many alts do you have and is this your main?
None above level 40, but I’m working on 22 priest that I would like to do heroic and raid healing in the future. This character I am applying with is my main.


What are your play times?
Mainly weekends, but on Tuesday-Friday I get out of class by 2:00 PM server time. I am free during those times, but some of that time is dedicated to course work and other academic obligations. I am pretty flexible with that.

Which of our raid times would you be able to make?
I can make all of them, but I think that I would like to work with the group that raids on normal for the time being. Of course, I have to work my way up the heroic dungeon progression first.

Would you be willing to sit out if it is necessary without a fuss?
I don’t see why not.


Have you spent proper time and money into your gear / enchants / gems?
No, as I have just hit 85, I bought a couple glyphs, but have not considered any enchants or gems. Right now, I think it’s most important to gear up before I start blowing gold on enchants and gems. That’s something I need to learn.


Raiders are expected to use consumables during raids. In the following categories what consumable would you use and why?
- Flask/Elixirs: Flask of Steelskin -> need more health to take bigger hits from the baddies!
- Well Fed: Either Lavascale Minestrone or Beer-Basted Crocolisk -> more stamina and mastery/strength is always a good thing!
- Potion: Earthen Potion -> more armor = more damage mitigation = less healing = less stressed healer!

What is the basic gemming strategy for your character?
Yellow: Fractured Lightstone or Puissant Elven Peridot
Blue: Puissant Elven Peridot or Solid Deepholm Iolite
Red: Defender’s Shadow Spinel, Fine Lava Coral, Keen Lava Coral, or Guardian’s Shadow Spinel
Meta: Austere Shadowspirit Diamond


What is the basic reforging strategy for your character?
If I am having threat issues, then I will reforge the weakest stat into expertise or hit. Once I am having no more threat issues, I want to focus on mastery, reforging the weakest stat or excess expertise/hit into mastery.


What is your favorite boss fight and why? What boss haven't you fought that you're looking forward to the most?
King Dred from Drak’Tharon Keep. Who wouldn’t want to thrash a giant T-Rex? Had a King Kong feel to it.
I'm looking forward to Heroic Deadmines. I just ran through the Westfall quest line with my alt priest, so they built up all the drama about Vanessa.
Also, I've run that dungeon (normal) so many times. Can't wait to do it again on Heroic.

What boss mod(s) do you use?

Deadly boss mods, GTFO, Omen

What website(s) do you use to read up on encounters proactively?

Wowwiki, wowhead, tankspot, sometimes I just google it.

One of our warrior members may post later with a review of the raiding details of your application. From a community standpoint, we can extend a non-raiding guild invite as long as you understand the way the guild works via the three posts linked in the application. A good portion of our members do not raid, but they do expect that our guild chat does not resemble trade chat. We also expect our guild to maintain a good reputation by having members act in a reputable manner; well mannered people in SMM get a bad rap because SMM let's their bad mannered people stay in their guild -- we don't. Since you have expressed a desire to raid, the 'Ranks' post will explain the expectations for raiders.

as inori said, it's important that you understand and respect the general atmosphere of the guild, which is covered on the about us page, so please make sure to read that. as for raiding, you don't meet our requirements at the moment, but most of your answers reflect that you've done a fair amount of research, so that's a good sign. track someone down online and we can get you an invite as a member until you're able to gear up.

What is the policy on applying with an alt?

Log onto your main and ask an officer in guild to invite your alt. Be sure to log on your main first; if you whisper an officer from the alt and they're not expecting it, they'll just assume it's some social engineering attempt to ninja the bank.
