Protection spec?

Looking for some feedback on protection spec guys, As you all know im UberDPSfacepullofftank spec. But with my role in raids always being that of tank im feeling more and more i should respec. Ive never tried prot spec and would like to know its pros and cons, losing MS is a major con for me but worth it in the long run especially if my durability keeps me alive longer.

Excellent idea. With the latest patch, Blizzard has made it a point to differentiate between the different tank specs. Equal skill and gear aside, a protection specced tank will play the role of a meat shield much better than the other specs. Take a look at the prot tree http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... lents.html and you can see talents like Defiance, Last Stand, Improved Defensive Stance, and Vitality can aid in your tanking ability. In a raid, especially in the 20 man, it is more important to have a tank be a tank and let other classes like rogues, mages, locks, feral druids, etc. focus on the dps. Overall, if you decide to make the switch to protection spec, I believe we will strengthen the guild and the raids we go on. Your choice though.A good example would have been last night in ZG. If we had another tank who was better able to absorb punishment, I think we could have possibly beaten him. Notice how I was usually the last tank standing? With the amount of armor I carry plus all the talent bonuses, I was able to absorb Hakaar's hits a bit easier. Of course, it also helps when I have over 10k hp's buffed and with Last Stand activated

Tigger, I'm also protection specced and although I do not have as much armor as Mahnalor, I am frequently one of the last tanks standing becuase of the spec. I love the spec and it works great in small groups even. Right now I have FR gear at about 125 and defense gear with a rating of about 115 which helps. I of course switch off depending on teh boss. I plan on keeping the spec through the 60's and to 70. BTW, when I got the free respec, I took the 41 point talent in the tree so have virtually nothing in arms and fury right now. Robert

Gathgor,Its great that you are also Prot specced. I believe Tiggerstyle will be changing over to his mage soon as his main so having you in Prot spec is definitely welcome! Let me know if you have any questions as I have tried just about every talent out there
